The National Scholars Program is Clemson University's premier undergraduate scholarship, awarded to top students admitted into the Clemson University Honors College. It covers full tuition, fees, and other required expenses, plus a funded summer study-abroad experience, mentoring, and enrichment programming throughout college. There's no standalone scholarship application: students who submit both the Clemson undergraduate admissions application and the Honors College application — which requires two required essays (650 words each) and two letters of recommendation — by the Honors Priority deadlines (application due October 22, all supporting materials due November 1, 2026) are automatically considered for the National Scholars Program. Students who advance are notified in January and attend a required Scholarship Recruitment Weekend on February 19-20, with final selections announced in early March. Clemson is test-optional, so SAT/ACT scores are not required for admission consideration.
DemographicsRequires admission to Clemson University's Honors College via both the undergraduate and Honors College applications; open regardless of residency, including international students. Clemson is test-optional for admission consideration.
Clemson's own program description states the scholarship covers all tuition, fees, and other required expenses; the university does not publish an exact dollar figure or the number of scholars selected each year.
