The Charles Butt Foundation's Raising Texas Teachers program pays $8,000 to $10,000 a year, renewable for up to four years, to students entering one of 27 partner university teacher-preparation programs across Texas. Students can apply anytime between the fall of their senior year of high school and their junior year of college, and commit to teaching in a Texas public school serving a majority economically disadvantaged population or teaching a priority subject. Incoming scholars from high school have historically averaged about a 3.4 GPA, though the program does not publish a strict minimum.
