Grinnell sponsors a National Merit Scholarship for entering first-year students who are named National Merit Finalists and list Grinnell as their first-choice college with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The $2,000-a-year award is added automatically to a student's aid offer once that first-choice designation is on file with NMSC — there's no separate Grinnell application. It renews for three years after the initial award, covering all four years of enrollment, as long as NMSC renewal requirements are met.
DemographicsRequires admission to Grinnell College; automatic once a student is a National Merit Finalist who names Grinnell first choice with NMSC — no separate Grinnell application.
