Kawerak's Higher Education Scholarship Program funds tribal members of Bering Strait/Norton Sound region tribes in its consortium (Nome Eskimo Community members apply through their own local office instead) who have been accepted for enrollment at an accredited college or university. New applicants submit a letter of college acceptance, a high school or GED transcript, two letters of recommendation, and a current class schedule, so a graduating high school senior with an acceptance letter can apply. Awards of $1,500 per semester full-time or $750 per semester part-time are paid directly to the school and can be renewed each semester by maintaining a 2.0 GPA.
