The Terry Foundation funds a small number of Texas Tech freshmen who show strong leadership, academics, and financial need. Texas Tech nominates eligible candidates directly from its admitted-freshman pool, and nominees then complete a separate Terry Scholars application, including two essays and a recommender submission, by the foundation's deadline. Each award is calculated individually to cover tuition, fees, books, on-campus room and board, and miscellaneous expenses, and can renew for up to eight semesters. Applicants must be Texas residents who graduated from a Texas high school or homeschool, and must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States.
DemographicsRequires admission to Texas Tech University and Texas residency (Texas high school/homeschool graduate, U.S. citizen or permanent resident); requires nomination by TTU, then a separate Terry Scholars application.
Amount is individually calculated each year based on cost of attendance and the student's other financial aid.
