The Terry Foundation — Texas's largest private scholarship provider — covers whatever college costs are left after other aid (full ride, last-dollar) for up to eight semesters, for Texas high school graduates admitted as entering freshmen at one of its 11 partner Texas public universities (UT Austin, UT Dallas, UT San Antonio, UT Arlington, UT El Paso, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, University of Houston, Texas State, University of North Texas, and Texas Woman's University). Selection weighs academic achievement and class rank, financial need shown via FAFSA, and demonstrated leadership in school and community, with finalists interviewed by a Terry Interview Panel. Students apply through their chosen partner university's own Terry Scholarship application and must be nominated by that university, not apply directly through the Foundation, and must commit to living on campus their first year with no gap year after high school graduation.
