The Italian Catholic Federation awards about 130 first-year $500 scholarships each spring to graduating high school seniors with at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA (grades 9 through first semester of grade 12), judged on scholastic achievement/class rank, financial need, leadership, and extracurricular or charitable involvement. Winners can requalify in later years for second-, third-, and fourth-year awards of $600, $700, and $1,000. Applicants must be Roman Catholic and either of Italian descent living within an ICF-branch diocese of California, Nevada, or Illinois, or -- if not of Italian descent -- have a Roman Catholic parent or grandparent who is an ICF member. The application, personal-assessment letter, and transcript are typically due April 10 each year; check the site for the 2027 cycle.
DemographicsMust be Roman Catholic. Applicants of Italian descent must live within a diocese where an ICF Branch is established (CA, NV, or IL); applicants not of Italian descent qualify only if a parent or grandparent is an ICF member. ICF is a cultural/fraternal organization, not an insurance provider, and does not gate membership behind an insurance product.
First-year award; winners who reapply are eligible for $600 (2nd year), $700 (3rd year), and $1,000 (4th year) renewal awards.
