The Civilian Marksmanship Program awards up to $1,000,000 a year across dozens of scholarships — from a single $10,000 renewable award to about thirty $1,000 local scholarships — for graduating U.S. citizen seniors headed to college or a trade/vocational program. Most require documented competition experience in a marksmanship discipline (rifle, pistol, shotgun, air gun, or archery), but local scholarships for students in Anniston/Oxford and Talladega, Alabama, and Ottawa County, Ohio, need no shooting background at all. No CMP membership or fee of any kind is required to apply. Applications are due every year on March 31.
One $10,000 scholarship and four $5,000 scholarships are each renewable up to 4 years (the $10,000 totals up to $40,000; each $5,000 totals up to $20,000); about 30 local scholarships pay $1,000 each and need no marksmanship experience.
