Generation Hope surrounds teen parents (pregnant or parenting by age 19, and 25 or younger when applying) with more than just a scholarship: a Scholar receives $1,200/year toward a two-year college or $2,400/year toward a four-year college, renewable each year while maintaining a 2.5 GPA and staying actively involved in their child's life, plus one-on-one mentoring, free tutoring, mental-health support, career coaching, and access to emergency funds. Both incoming college freshmen and current students can apply, but applicants must plan to attend a nonprofit college within about 50 miles of one of the program's three sites — the Washington, D.C. area (including Maryland and Virginia), Greater New Orleans, or the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex — and take at least 6 credits per semester. Applications for the current cohort are closed; Generation Hope is planning its next cohort for fall 2027, with dates not yet announced.
