American Indian Services (AIS) provides need-based scholarships to undergraduate students who are enrolled members or direct descendants of a U.S. federally recognized American Indian or Alaska Native tribe or entity, open to any tribe nationwide. Incoming college freshmen are explicitly accepted, and high school or GED transcripts satisfy the transcript requirement for a student's first two terms. Applicants submit an essay, proof of heritage, a cost-of-attendance statement, and a completed FAFSA; awards are paid directly to the school and a 2.25 cumulative GPA must be established and maintained starting the first term. Two annual cycles run each year, one for fall funding and one for spring.
